Agriculture Minister Suswono open exhibition Agro and Food Expo 2013 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). Exhibition on the theme of ´Herbs, Indonesian Brand´ will take place on 23-26 May 2013.

"Herb was chosen to be the theme expo because herbs are native Indonesian products that have historical value as well as a characteristic of the Indonesian nation," said Agriculture Minister Suswono when opening Agro and Food Expo 2013 at the JCC Jakarta, Thursday (23/5).

He added, herbal medicine is a hereditary legacy rooted in natural resources. Empirical evidence suggests that the herb can maintain and improve public health, especially for preventive action.

"As such, herbal medicine as a cultural heritage contributes to the nation´s health-generation potential national asset," added Agriculture Minister Suswono.

According to him, the current Indonesian herbal medicine market has grown up to Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, America, the Middle East and Russia.

Agro & Food Expo is the first and largest agribusiness exhibition in Indonesia, held since 2001. This investment trade shows and visit buyers and national and foreign investors so as a means of B to B is effective for stakeholders and related industries. The exhibition is expected to attract more than 10,000 potential visitors.

"Agro & Food Expo 2013 also contributed to the achievement of food self-sufficiency program to the Food Self-Sufficiency in 2014," added Agriculture Minister in his speech.
